Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Georgia

Will

My husband adopted a son during his first marriage which ended in 1984. He doesn't want to leave anything to this man. Does he need to list him as one of his children & leave him $1 so the guy can't contest his will or does he just ignore him in the will?

Re: Will

It is an urban legend that he has to bequeath him "One Dollar". All he has to do is to specifically state in his will that he leaves this person nothing. Consult with a local attorney.

Both answers may create very expensive problems later. What he needs to do is to retain a lawyer who can discuss all his options and draft appropriate documents. Many times the two you mentioned are the two worst choices.
