Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Greece

Locating Property Owned by Elderly Parents with No Paperwork

My elderly parents just informed us they own property in Greece near Thebes and Nerotrivia. However they have no paperwork, addresses, etc.

How can we research this ownership, get approximate value, and get documentation so it can be legally addressed/included in the wills they are updating?

Re: Locating Property Owned by Elderly Parents with No Paperwork

Since the property is located outside the US, you would probably need to connect up with an attorney in Greece to get the appropriate advice. There are international legal associations, but they will usually put you in touch with the most expensive Greek lawyer. Alternatively, you could probably come across someone through a contact with the Greek embassy or consulate here. There are many more elements to what you are asking that should be handled by a good attorney here, as well. For example, when your parents pass away, the way the property is presently owned, a probate would probably have to be conducted in Greece, as well. With some good estate planning, this ancillary probate could probably be avoided.
