Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Hawaii

i was living with my mother for eight years in a rented unit. my mother passed away and the landlord wants me out immediately because my name was not on the lease. what do i do ?

Sorry to hear about your mother. Of course you can try and take over the lease with the landlord. That might be easiest if you can afford the rent. If you can't afford the rent, the landlord has the right to evict you but this takes some time. If you don't leave voluntarily he has to take you to court to evict you. Good luck.
