Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Idaho

credit report after bankruptcy

On my credit report, a creditor that was included in my bankruptcy has my account listed as ''payments being handled by credit counseling service''. I've contacted them, and they tell me that they don't have to list my account as being included in a bankruptcy and that anyone pulling my credit can figure that out on their own. Is this true? What is the law regarding this? I should also mention that the origional company was purchased by a large bank and that it's now listed under the new companys' name.

Re: credit report after bankruptcy

Send the credit reporting bureau a copy of your discharge and the creditor matrix showing the name of the creditor you want listed - send it by certified mail. Request that they make the change and provide you proof of the change.

There is no way to actually force the change, if in fact at the time of the entry you were working with a credit counseling agency. If no change is made, you can make your own entry regarding this account (or any other item) onto your file which anyone obtaining your credit report will see.
