i have a friend who got a 17 year old pregnant at 22. his plea bargin lessened the crime to harm against a minor. he is on probation for 10 years and he is told that sex offenders are never allowed to leave the state during probation, he wasn't convicted of being a sex offender. is it legal to call him a sex offender and punish him to that extent with out the conviction?

Re: plea bargins

You would have to look closely at the terms of the plea bargain. Frequently, an element of a plea bargain in sexually related offenses is a classification as a sex offender.

You may always petition the court for a declassification or for relaxed probation standards.
