Legal Question in Disability Law in Illinois

my 6 grade life skills class has to clean caferteria but is not aloud to use it

the school is making the life skills class clean the caferteria ,except they eat in there class,i wrote a note to the teacher asking what this job would teach my son,i got a phone call.we didnt agree,i was told she is raising my son, and she was in the same boat as i due to she has a adha child of her own.my son is autistic.20 min. later speaial ed.of peoria county called, frist she stated(how dare i blast her teacher) and that they had aranged a meeting ,nothing was settled,i ask for my son to be put i a LRE class,meeting set up and went.during the meeting i felt wronged i left.my question is can the school make him clean,if they do not use it

I suggest you get a copy of Nolo's IEP Guide to Learning Disabilities. It contains invaluable insight to your rights as a parent of a special needs child. I too would question the appropriateness of having your child clean tables. Is this aligned with his IEP? You can find a copy of the book here.
