Can I be fired because of a disability

If I am put on 6 hr. disability can the college I work for terminate my job??

That depends. What do you do for the college, why are you on the disability, and is it possible to do your duties in 6 hours?

The ADA requires employers to make reasonable accomodations for folks with disabilities. Unfortunately, this law is typically not enforced against state agencies, and if the college is a state entity, they may not be bound by the ADA. I don't know, off the cuff, if Illinois has a state law that is similar, but many states do, and these laws are often applied to state agencies.
