If hearing is necessary for the work and even reasonable accommodations can not be made to allow you to continue the work, even the ADA has its limits. Were other positions offered that did not require hearing? If you were asked to resign did you have to sign any severance agreement? How old are you (age may matter). See an employment law attorney or contact the EEO office that serves your area, or both. Your rights may range from reinstatement with accommodations and back pay to unemployment/disability benefits, or just unemployment. Without more it's really impossible to be more certain.
