Legal Question in Administrative Law in Illinois

Hello,

Is it legal to create a company that will provide services for 2(or more) different industries?

for example, company name: "YOYO GLOBAL DEPARTMENT" will have 3 departments where:

1- cleaning services

2- IT Services

3- Trucking (delivery, etc.)

Is it legal to create such company or one company must be tight into one industry?

Thank you

Per se, you can, it really depends on how you word your organizational documents. But it may be a very bad idea for other reasons, however, so pinning your reasoning on just this factor may be doing you a disservice. For example you may tie yourself into collective bargaining agreements with the teamsters on the trucking side of the business that don't apply to the other areas, but you could wind up with unions affecting the other 2. There may be other good reasons not to handle things this way: varying insurance risks/underwriting, liabilities in general, public confusion as to what you company actually does, differing accounting methods required for the different kinds of businesses..... I'd give it some more thought and talk to a coroporate attorney and a CPA at the very least. Do some homework now and you could save yourself some major headaches later. Good luck.
