Legal Question in Banking Law in Illinois

Suing Northern Trust Bank

I signd a contract with the Northern Trust Bank allowing them to invest my money at their discretion. I am considering suing the Northern for breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty. Is there a way that I can find out if the Northern has been previously sued on similar counts?

Lawyers can search databases to which they typically subscribe. Or, you can go to the courthouse and do name search for Northern Trust.

The better/easier way, however, is after you file suit, you can initiate "discovery," which means that you can request NT to provide you the information you desire. You should know that discovey is quite limited if this is only a small claims matter.
