DBA's and tax id numbers

If I file for a tax id number in one state do I also have to file for the dba in the same state?

Re: DBA's and tax id numbers

An entity should only have one federal tax identification number. The "dba" simply means that the entity is also doing business under a name other than its own. The dba is not another entity and should not have a separate federal tax ID number.
