Co Owner of a car

I and my brother in law , we bought a car. His credit was very bad, so I had to put my name as a co owner/ cosigner. I paid $2000 for the car. Now problem is, he doesn't let me use the car at all, I don't have the keys and also sometimes he doesn't makes the monthly payment on time and the bank calls me, this thing is hurting my credit. I want to get out of this co ownership. Is there a possibility to get my $2000 back, What can be done legally, what are my options.

Wihtout knowing more details, it is not possible to answer your inquiry. You need to repost, stating exactly what the responisbilities of each party were and the total cost of the car, since the total cost may determine if small claims applies.
