Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

Money owed to me

I have a document that states the money owed to me. It is signed and notarized. The person who owes me the money is filling for bankruptcy/foreclosure. I want to find out how to insure I will get the money owed to me.

Re: Money owed to me

If you can't negotiate a settlement, you will have to sue him. If the person files for bankruptcy, you will be a creditor along with anyone else who holds his debts. As a creditor, you may get some, or none of the money owed.
