Re: Suing for payment of hospital bills

Hmmm.

You can sue anyone you like, so long as they don't file bankruptcy. But, if your suit is found to be frivolous, she may recover court costs against YOU. Your best bet would have been / is to ask the judge for restitution of any out-of-pocket expenses you incurred having to go to court. It may be too late to ask, but some states have victim's rights funds.

You can sue anyone if you have a valid legal claim. The problem with anyone living on social security is collecting any judgment you might receive. Social Security is exempt from collection.
