Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

Use of images on a website

I have a website with tutorials. I made, to teach people how to use different programs, like paint shop pro.

I offer the tutorials, as a convenience, on cd for a free will donation. I also offer a cd of scrapbook layouts. same type of donation.

Can I include images saved from all over the internet on these cds? (as backgrounds, tutorial examples, and on the layouts)

If someone can not donate to the cds, I send them anyway.

If you would like to see the site, I would be happy to send you the url.

Thank you,

Re: Use of images on a website

You probably can use the images put a proper disclaimer to the effect that these images are only exemplary of program operation, are the property of the copyright owners and are not for distribution to third parties and are not for resale. Technically your copies are perhaps copyright infringement, but with the disclaimer no copyright owner is likely to bother with a claim against you.
