Legal Question in Technology Law in Illinois

Using Personal Celebrity Pictures on a website?

My friends and I were invited to a book signing where a celebrity was signing autographs and taking pictures. We took a few pictures with the celebrity and would like to post the pictures on a website (a school's website). We are not trying to profit from the pictures in any way, but would just like to show the pictures to people that visit the site. Is this legal? Would we be hit with a lawsuit?

Re: Using Personal Celebrity Pictures on a website?

Any pictures that you take in a public place, where there is no expectation of privacy, are your pictures and you reserve the right to publish them in any way that you see fit.

Any celebrity who is benefiting from their "celebrity" status and posing for pictures would have no legal claim against you for posting those pictures on your school website.
