is it legal for a candidates wife to serve as an election judge on election day where he is running

Hello. My answer is "no", in my opinion. I would argue that the campaign judge has a conflict of interest and should remove herself or be legally removed. Will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.

In most jurisdictions more than one judge is assigned to hear election matters. While it would be best that this jurist not serve in this capacity, if there is only one judge qualified to hear these matters in the jurisdiction, then a nexis to her spouse's election would probably have to be apparent in order to disqualify the jurist.
