Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois

Automobile Lease

Back in Aug of 2006 we turned in a leased car back to the dealer that we leased from. The leased car was with US Bank. US Bank picked up the car and transported it several hundred miles before doing a inspection. After about a month or so they sent us a bill for 400.00+ dollars for damage they claim was on the vehicle. When we turned the car in at the dealership four people did a walk around and there was no damage to the vehicle.

In my opinion the damage was incurred while in transit.

There is more info to this problem and I will be happy to supply it if needed.

Is there anything I can do? They are telling me they plan to ruin my good credit standing.

At this point in time I have refused to pay.

Thank You

Steve Rohde

Re: Automobile Lease

Hello. I regret that you have had to endure such bad treatment. I would report the bank to the Illinois Attorney General's consumer complaint division. What the bank is attempting to do to you, in my opinion, amounts to fraud. I would not take it. You may want to consider a lawsuit as well. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
