Legal Question in Consumer Law in Illinois
My daughter has a large unpaid water bill. She was the renter. The bill was caused by the failure of the landlord to make repairs to a leaking hot water heater and faucets. Who pays?

If the bill is in her name, then the the water company will hold her responsible and she will have to pay the bill. However, she may have a separate claim against the landlord for the failure to repair the leak.
