Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Carpet installation bill?

In October we ordered and had carpet installed. Once padding was laid, and carpet was roughly cut it was determined to be wrong carpet. We cancelled our order, and installer returned later in the week to retrieve carpet, but refused to remove padding. Ordered carpet from alternate vendor, had padding removed

and replaced with higher grade. First carpet company is trying to charge us for original padding. Our credit card company reversed the charge...but we received an invoice from carpet co. today. We did sign a contract with them...but their error was one we didn't have time to deal with, as the carpet we wanted was on back order. How do we handle this? Also..they're overcharging us for padding. If this is a legitimate charge, this padding should be $200ish, they're charging us $450ish. We'd rather pay an atty than them...but we did sign a contract...we're just not sure of the legality of the contract when they screwed up. Thanks

Re: Carpet installation bill?

You should have an attorney in your area review the contract.
