Re: collecting a judgement

If you know where the person works, then you just need to do a garnishment proceeding through DeKalb County. It may be worthwhile to pay a local attorney to do this (and I can refer you to one if you want a referral), but I believe DeKalb County would have forms available for this at the clerk's office. You just want to make sure you comply with all the notice requirements etc to make sure the garnishment goes through which is why paying an attorney to help you would probably be the way to go.

Unfortunately it can be a bit of a pain. You will need to go through enforcement court. While you have already won your lawsuit, you need to use the Courts to garnish wages or seize property. There are collection agencies that can do all of this for you.

Feel free to give us a call if you want to talk about your options.
