Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Could you tell me if a college is allowed to turn you over to a collection agency and that agency charge you a $516.14 collection fee?

I have excellent credit. This school is an online or correspondence school. Third time I had to take the class. The reason was because the instructors would not help me. I would email them several times and not get a response. What can I do? The school is Indiana and I live in Illinois.

Can't tell but if you signed up for a class and agreed to pay the tuition, the fact that you get a bad teacher on its own is no reason not to pay. Based on the little information you provided, you appear to have entered into a contract under Indiana law by accepting their on-line campus there. What you should do is talk to the school - perhaps the department chair, and see if you can repeat the class. But it sounds like this may have gone too long without your having said anything.
