Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

Credit Card Fraud

I received a rejected credit application from a clothing store near me. I contacted the credit company immediately upon receipt of the notice and told them I never applied for a credit card. They have since sent me a copy of the application which does not have my correct social security number. The address and phone number listed is close. The credit card company told me this person was denied credit however, I still have concerns. What can I do to find out if this person has applied for other credit cards? How do I stop this or what other action should I take?

Check your credit report. Look for any erroneous credit accounts.
