Served papers for credit card debt over 3 years ago

I was served papers for a credit card debt for over 3 years ago, it is a collection company, I want to get this over but the amount is for 3 times the amount of the actual orignal credit limit, what are my rights without going to court

First of all, go to court on the date shown on the summons you received. No matter what. Second, call the collection agency and see if you can work anything out with them. Third, read up on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to see if there were any violations.
