Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I got summoned today over a credit card debt that I have already paid. About a year ago I agreed with the debt collectors to make monthly payments of $100 dollars a month, and there lawyers mailed me a paper which I had to sign and send back to them which stated if I agreed to make the payments on time each month they would not take me to court. I made all the payments on time and even paid the debt off early. And Today a cop showed up to my house with a summon from Chase. Please Help ? Should I get a attorney ? What could they possibly sue me over since I don't own them anything? I called the lawyers office & chase credit cards and they said my balance was $0 dollars.

I asked chase & there lawyers to fax me the balance statement but they won't. They said they sent it by mail and it could take up to 40 days ? What is there deal ? My court date is before that. Finally got um them to say they would fax me my balance and it would take a couple days. And I'll call them time and time again and I still haven't received the statement & its been a week

Please Somebody Help im losing my mind !

1 Answer from Attorneys

Get an attorney. There are collection scams. Maybe the amounts were applied to the wrong account. Maybe because attorneys were involved there are still court costs to account for. Any number of things could have gone wrong. As long as you can prove you sent the money in full, it may be a pain but if you don't deal with their screw-ups, it will just screw you up more.
