Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Illinois

I wrote a check and due to current situations, I am unable to cover it in full, it was for $13,700 I was able to pay them $6,000 so far but that has been a couple of months, how do I get another 30-60 days to cover the debt without going to jail or facing a conviction?

You "kited" a check - ie. a check is a promise to pay and you were NSF. Since the payee is the one that you broke your promise to, you will have to make arrangements with them. Contact an attorney to do so or you could face legal action.
