Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I got caught cheating a pre employment internship drug screening, and was unaware of the consequences of it being a class 4 felony along with a fine. No charges have been filed at this time, and I was wondering who would be in charge of filing the charges (the lab or employer) and how often it happens? As someone without a criminal record at it being a first time, non violent offense, I was wondering should charges me filed, what the odds are of getting a reduced sentence and parole for the record to be expunged as well should it get that far. Thank you!

Each case is different, so there is no way to answer your question regarding what might happen if you are charged. It will be up to either the lab or the employer to report this to the police and then it will be up to the prosecutor to determine if you will be charged. If anyone calls you regarding this matter, you need to say nothing and tell them that your attorney will be contacting them. You need to hire a criminal defense attorney right away to make sure you are protected.
