Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

False Statement

My mom was arrested for disorderly conduct because a lady called the policestating my mom hit her car and tried to run her off the road. It is a lie and I don't know why my mom got arrested for something she did not do. Tell me what legal action should she take or what could possibly happen to the woman that made a false statement to the police?

Re: False Statement

Start with taking care of your mother. So far she has been arrested, find out if the State intends to press criminal charges against her. If they do, she will need to be formally charged and appear in Court within the 48 hours. The Court will also set bail at that point which probably will not be very high.

Your mother needs an attorney and she needs to be careful about talking to the police without one present. Please feel free to give us a call if you want to talk.

Re: False Statement

Have your mom talk to a lawyer about the criminal charges and about filing a lawsuit against the women who brought the false charges.
