Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

harrasment letters
back in april my friend recieved a letter
in the mail and email pretty much sayin that they know she
was cheatin on her husband that they saw her and she better
stop and that they were watcin her they even called her
names like slut and cheater .... Yeah she was hangin around
other guys so in a way the letter was true ... Then back in
june she recieved some text messages from the yahoo account
again sayin they know she is still cheating and better stop
or they would tell her husband and they again called her
names ....they said in the letter they got all her info from
her husband. Can anything be done on the police side to
figure out who did it? Since her husband is military would
they be able to get any info on these letters? And who sent
them. Please any info you have please let me know i need
advice

You could call the police to report this, but they aren't going to do anything.
