Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Need your help...plz read

I was arrested in september of 2005 and convicted of retail theft which turned out to be a misdemeanor conviction.since then i've been unable to get a decent paying job.i've learned from past mistakes, and have not gotten into trouble with the law since. Could i get my record exspunged? Do i need a lawyer?i really need to know what to do.i live in chicago,il and i think it will take another 2yrs before i can doit, but thats 2yrs to long.thank you

If you received a sentence of supervision, you must wait 5 years after the termination of the sentence. In other words, if your supervision ended on June 15, 2006, you are not eligible under the law to expunge until June 15, 2011. That's the law.
