Huh? The landlady? Go see an attorney. If you were renting a home and the lease said YOU had to carry insurance on it, and you thought you were paying HER to get it, there is a huge miscommunication. And she could be right. And if she isn't the landlady but instead is the mortgage lender or agent of the mortgage lender, and you thought you were supposed to make mortgage payments to cover insurance but have none, you could be in serious trouble if there is a fire or loss. If you handled the lease, or mortgage, on your own without an attorney's help up front, or if you did but were not told what to do, still you are responsible for knowing what your own legal obligations are. Again, go see an attorney with all the paperwork you have about this whole situation.
