Re: prisoner rights

There are a few sources for his rights and restrictions.

First of all, if he is being released on probation, then he needs to follow all of the terms of his probation. An example might be not making contact with certain people or attending some kind of rehabilitation program.

Second of all, there are sex offender registration requirements that vary by state. Some states restrict where sex offenders may live and work. All states require that your stepson notify the registry fairly soon after leaving prison, and keeping his address current.

Finally, your son has all the rights of any other citizen. While he must comply with the restrictions I mentioned above, he has the right to live free of harrassment.

If you want to talk more about the specifics, please feel free to contact us. Your stepson should have an attorney and/or a probation officer that will explain most of this to him before his release.
