Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Probate Question of a Will

My mother passed away March 2, 2009. Did not understand a lot of written English terminology being Japanese. I had to read her mail and explain things to her, took care of my mother @ my home until she passed away. My sister the eldest keep everything a secret regarding Financial Issues, my mother said that when she passed away everything would be split between the 3 children even and said she trusted my sister. My sister will not produce any Bank Accounts, all transactions were done by my sister who resides in another state. My Mother had my Father's Social Security checks direct deposited so I was never able to see were these money's were going to. I supported my mother for years. How do I go about getting the information. What is the statute of limitation in Chicago, Illinois. I asked my sister to please produce Bank Information to my brother & I. She is completely ignoring the issue.

Re: Probate Question of a Will

Sorry to hear about your mother and he predicament you find yourself in. Hopefully I can help. Did your mother have a will? Were your sisters signors on the bank accounts? They almost certainly should not be depositing checks. Absent a valid will, you almost certainly should have received 1/3 of the estate. There are a ton of questions for you here. Please feel free to email me directly for a free consultation where I can give you a more detailed opinion. My email is: [email protected]
