Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I have a question that if I was plead guilty to a felony of theft for the amount of $23,000 from my place of work can it be sealed/expunged a couple years down the road after my probation period ends in 2 years. The reason I am asking because this one mistake may cause me from never having the opportunity of finding a job. If it can be sealed what is the process I have to go through to do that? I am currently a student applying to Medical School and would like to know the process, too.

Honestly, this is too critical of an issue to answer off the cuff in this forum. If you can't afford an attorney for this charge you may be entitled to a public defender who can assist you. Your entire future is at stake. The Illinois Attorney General publishes a flyer on the subject, but again it is too important not to invest in the best counsel you can get and make sure this is the right decision for you. It may affect future professional licensing as well. http://www.illinoisattorneygeneral.gov/consumers/brochures/expunge0204h.pdf

You NEED an attorney.

If you EVER hope to get into Medical School you need to hire competent counsel and sort this out.
