Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I rented a machine and paid for rental for 1 day. I contacted the company and asked if I could keep the item longer, they said yes. When I returned the machine, I offered them $700 on the rental and they refused the payment. Now they said they want to charge me with grand theft. Is this possible

Anything is possible, but if you returned the rented machine theft is an unlikely charge.
