how to get a restraining order in chicago?
I have an older diabetic roomate who does not take care of his medical condition, causing mental, inbalances erupting as violence and threats against me and phone harrasment of my girlfriend. I hardly go home because of the threats he makes. I wish to move out, but to prevent rataliation which he has promised if I do move out. How can I move out and have a restraining order placed on him the day I move out?
Re: how to get a restraining order in chicago?
Greetings -
At 28 North Clark in Chicago, you can obtain
an emergency order of protection against your roommate. First you must go to Room 802 of the
Daley Center, which is the Domestic Relations
Division of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of
Cook County. I suggests that you get a lawyer
to make the process smoother. With an order of
protection, you should be able to move out with
the assistance of the Chicago Police. I will be
happy to answer any more questions that you might
have!
