Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Warrant?

I was living in Carbondale, IL and on April, 2006, I got into some trouble with the police. There was no arrest and I ended up moving from my apartment in June, 2006. I just recently applied for another job and it came back that I had a warrant out for my arrest, but the warrant was filed in December, 2006. How do I get this taken care of and what's the basis of this warrant?

Re: Warrant?

It is not uncommon for the police to send a police report to the prosecutor's office and then ask the prosecutor's office to file charges and seek a warrant if these things are appropriate. A police report could sit around for quite a while before all of this happens.

If this were in my county, I would suggest to you to call me and let me investigate things for you, and if appropriate, I would try to quash the warrant or arrange for you to turn yourself in.

I suggest you call a Carbondale area criminal defense lawyer and get his or her assistance.

Re: Warrant?

You definitely need to hire an attorney to find out all of the facts and then represent you in this case. The attorney may be able to have the warrant cancelled and may be able to sucessfully defend or at least plea bargain the criminal charge against you. If you do not already have an attorney, you may call me for a consultation. I have handled quite a few matters in Carbondale.
