if i witnessed a murder and gave no official statement but told police what i saw and they subpenad me anyway do have to go before the grand jury and what would happen if i told them i did not recall the incident

If you do not want to testify before the grand jury, the correct procedure would be to file a motion to quash the subpoena assuming you have some legal basis to do so.
