Legal Question in DUI Law in Illinois

I received a DUI while I am in college. I was driving my friends car when I received it. I do not personally own a car myself but I am on my parents insurance. The insurance told my parents that they do not have to put me on the insurance until I get into an accident. My mom was planning on get me a car and just put liability insurance on it. Will that still be possible even if I have the DUI? Also my parents do not know about the DUI.
