Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I am the biological father of a child that is being adopted by the biological mother and her husband. I signed a consent to adpotion form and the judge proceeded to tell me that my rights to the child ceased and that I the order was irrevocable. The mother is now stating that my support needs to continue until the adoption is finalized, but that doesn't make sense to me considering that in order for the new father to adopt my rights would have to be terminated. Any help would be appreciated.

The Illinois Supreme Court has said the obligation for child support continues, even AFTER adoption. So if the adoption is not final maybe you should get an attorney to help out here? We're talking years and years, right?
