Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I was born in Illinois, and my birth certificate shows one spelling for my first and middle names. When I turned 16 years old, I filled out my driver's license form with a different spelling of both (in IL). The name is the same (for instance, if it were Cassi Jane and I had changed the spelling to Cassie Jayne). All of my past paychecks, tax forms, and my marriage certificate also show the new spelling. I have recently been told that it is not legal to change the spelling of my name, without having filed specific forms with the government, to do so. Does this make my Nevada marriage certificate void?
