Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child support suspension

I have been divorced for 5 years. My current custody agreement awards me every weekend with my now 11 year old daughter. My ex is looking for a new agreement that gives her every other weekend. I have voluntarily gone to 3 mediation sessions and we have been able to reach an agreement that will give me compensatory time in the summer. This agreement would allow me to have my daughter for two consecutive weeks each summer month. My question is ''If I have my daughter for half of the months in question, can I get my child support suspended for these months.'' I will incurr additional costs as a result of this. If I we go to court what can I expect from a decent judge?

Re: Child support suspension

You can expect that the judge will re-evaluate the money situation on both sides including any changes to your income. If you have had a salary increase, for example, it opens you up to higher child support. However, if there is no change, then it is likely the judge will help you out. It depends on your exact circumstances.
