Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

child support

My x is currently $28,000 in arrears. I am responsible for going after med expense and insurance myself. My daughter now has to wear a school uniform, is that suppose to be covered by child support or is that an addidtional expense. She is in public.

Re: child support

Typically if the court order doesn't provide for additional money regarding school expenses, then the expense is included in support. You don't say if he's paying arrears, or just isn't paying? This could effect whether it's worth the trouble to get him ordered to help pay for her school uniform. Consulting a local family law attorney may prove useful, and possibly the local public aid office (usually via the Attorney General or State's Attorney's office depending on the county)
