Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

child visitation

My sons father has not been in his live for almost 4 years. Now all of a sudden child supposrt caught up with him so he is demanding child visitation if he has to pay. The problem is that he lives in Alabama and We live in Illinois.How can i stop him from taking my son there and make him do visitation in Illinois? The problem is that he has moved so much and at this time i still do not know where he lives or works other than some where in alabama.

Hello. The legal question is what

is in the best interest of your child.

In my opinion, you should go back to

court and ask the judge to have dad

begin visiting your son here in Illinois first. After a while your son could then be introduced into

the idea of seeing dad here in Illinois and during extended holidays.

I understand that the idea of your

son visiting dad in Alabama may not

agree with you. That is why I am suggesting that visits begin here with dad coming to Illinois. The judge may appoint a lawyer for your son (a child representative) if the

judge believes that he needs another set of eyes to view the situation. I

will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
