Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

My daughter is 14 and lives in New York with her mother. We have joint custody, but I only get her on school breaks and for the summer. She doesn't like her school out there and wants to move to Illinois with me. Will I have to go through court proceedings in New York to get her to move to Illinois or can I do that in Illinois?

Where was the last order regarding custody entered? IF it was Illinois, then you can proceed here. If it was New York, then you must proceed there. If it was neither, then in that state or in New York.
