Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Divorce Agreements
My husband is divorced and his exwife is the gaurdian of the kids and in the divorce decree he has to carry all of the medical/dental benefits for the kids. After benefits everything that has not been covered is split between him and his exwife to pay. Recently his exwife has decided to have some kind of teeth straightening device done for their daughter. It's $3,000. She is on state aid. So whatever our insurance does not cover the state pays. So basically this device will be of no cost to her while we have to pay $1500. My question is, Can we do anything about this because it was something that was by choice and not absolutely nesscesary? Do we just have to grant this and pay the bill?

Re: Divorce Agreements
Hello and Happy New Year. In my opinion, your husband should take this issue to court. The child's mother should be barred from arbitrarily incurring medical costs, without your husband being consulted. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
