Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

If I am going through divorce and I filled for BK, do I have to still pay a settlement amount to her to end this divorce (I did name her in the BK and I was discharged). I filled for BK and was discharged she kept all of the marital assets i.e. furniture, TVs, car, house, etc. She says that I had a CD when we got separated and she wants half of that money. It was 10K and it was cashed a while ago to pay for the attorney. I have been paying my CS and I am up to date but can she get a settlement from me above what she has already gotten? Or does the BK stop any further bleeding?

It depends on when you filed and under what Chapter you filed. If within the last few years, a Ch 7 does not discharge your obligations under your divorce judgment. Only a Ch 13 might do so. Discuss this with your bankruptcy atty.
