Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Divorcing a disabled/incompetent spouse

My mom mentioned that she is thinking about divorcing my father who has mental and physical disabilities due to a stroke he suffered in 2001. Is there any law that prevents her from divorcing him? He currently lives with me, but she helps pay for his living expenses, and help me take care of him when needed.

You can't force a person to stay with anybody - she can file for divorce.
