if I have full custody of my children and their dad, who I am not married to has visitation rights, what steps do i need to take if I am moving to another state?

Assuming you are divorced and living in IL you must obtain court approval to move. You need to file a Petition for Removal, setting forth where you will be moving and why, and the petition must be served on your former husband. It is not a simple process. You should consult with an attorney
