Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

GAL Decision

GAL recommended that I retain physical custody of children, with father having ''normal'' visitation. He doesn't like the recommendation and want to continue to fight for 50/50 custody. How often does the court rule against a GAL recommendation?

Re: GAL Decision

Hello. In my opinion, the court will give a degree of weight to the GAL's

recommendation, but the court will appoint a professional to evaluate the

degree to whether a change of custody is in the best interest of the children. Hopefully, you are represented in this matter. The issues in a custody battle can be very

complex. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
